Trip Itinerary

Day 1

San Sebastian

Kick off your trip with a welcome toast, then hit the streets of San Sebastian on a fun — and delicious! — pintxos tour for lunch. You’ll also enjoy a guided tour around the city in the afternoon, and end your day with a wonderful dinner.

Day 2

Zarautz-Guetaria (2.8 miles / 4.5 kilometers)

Walk along the coast all the way to Guetaria, where Basque explorer Juan Sebastian Elcano was born. After some free time, you’ll transfer to your next city for lunch and relaxation.

Day 3

Take in the wonders of Bilbao’s Guggenheim museum — including its breathtaking design and architecture — with a fully guided tour. Your outing includes lunch in Castro Urdiales, an afternoon visit to the caves of UNESCO-protected Altamira and a night in Santillana del Mar.

Day 4

Comillas-San Vicente de la Barquera (7.7 miles / 12.4 kilometers)

In the morning, enjoy a relaxing visit to Comillas, a top vacation spot for the royal family and high society. Later, on the Camino, you’ll pass through quaint historic towns that typify the beauty of the region, before stopping for the night in Llanes.

Day 5

La Isla-Priesca (7.5 miles / 12.1 kilometers)

Begin your day with a walk near the beach, and as you walk, you’ll work your way up through the hills, ending in riesca. Then, transfer to Oviedo for lunch and a guided visit before heading off to bed.

Day 6

Pola de Allande-Lugo (8.6 miles / 13.9 kilometers)

This is a beautiful stage in the Camino Primitivo (the original, 9thcentury path) as you walk uphill to Puerto de Palos. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch, then transfer to Lugo for the night.

Day 7

Lugo-Ferreira (16.4 miles / 26.5 kilometers)

Your day starts in the provincial capital, surrounded by ancient Roman walls — another UNESCO World Heritage site — and ends in Ponte Ferreira. Just cross the river Ferreira over a notable, one-arch bridge to your idyllic destination on the other side!

Day 8

Ferreira-Melide (13.3 miles / 21.5 kilometers)

Today, you’ll trek to Melide, a city well-known for its octopus dishes and the only place where two Camino routes meet

Day 9

Melide-Santo Domingo de la Calzada (12.4 miles / 20 kilometers)

Today’s highlight is a stop in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. This quaint11th-century town is famed for its architectural richness of its monumental center.

Day 10

Santo Domingo de la Calzada-Lavacolla (14.3 miles / 23 kilometers)

Hike to the outskirts of Santiago to the town of Lavacolla and rest up for your last day on the Camino!

Day 11

Lavacolla-Santiago (12 miles / 19.4 kilometers)

This stage of the Camino is mostly urban — it will all be worth it when you arrive at the Cathedral in Santiago to receive your Compostela certificate of completion!

Day 12

Pola de Allande-Lugo (8.6 miles / 13.9 kilometers)

You’ll have time in the morning to explore Santiago at your own pace. In the afternoon, set out on a quick trip to the “end of the world,”? Finisterre, before returning to Santiago for your final night.

Day 13

Pack your bags, and head home with memories to last a lifetime!
